Looking for an alternative to Monefy?

If you are here, either Monefy is not quite fitting or you are checking before you decide. This page will not try to talk you round: it says where Monefy is better, where Cuéntamo is, and who each one suits. If your answer at the end is «I will stay where I am», that is a useful answer too.

How they're alike

Both start from the same idea: keeping track of your money without spreadsheets and without handing over your bank credentials. You create your accounts by hand, log transactions by category and see your spending in a ring chart. Both are private: neither connects to your bank, and your data stays yours — no ads, no data selling. If all you want is to log expenses and see where the month went, either will do the job.

How they differ

Monefy is, deliberately, a minimalist tracker: fast, simple and built around a single gesture — tap a slice of the donut and log the expense in two taps. Cuéntamo is a more complete platform that, beyond the day-to-day, covers things Monefy simply doesn't have:

And if you freelance in Spain, there's also a full Spanish tax module — but that's an extra; this comparison is about everyday use.

When Monefy may suit you better

Let's be fair: if all you want is to log expenses and look at the donut, and nothing more, Monefy is a good pick. Its donut is simple and fast, the app is native on your phone, and syncing through your own Google Drive or Dropbox is straightforward. Cuéntamo also has quick manual entry — a floating button with shortcuts to your categories: tap, pick a category, type the amount, done, for free — so logging speed isn't the reason to pick one over the other; the difference is everything else.

Honest summary. Just logging expenses, minimalist, with that iconic donut and nothing more? Monefy. Want to also know your future balance, split expenses and debts, import your statements, or see your net worth and investments — and use it on web and desktop too? Cuéntamo. Both log quickly; the difference is minimalism versus platform: pick whichever matches what you need. And you don't have to decide blind — both are free to start.

Try it with your own numbers

Cuéntamo is free to start: accounts, transactions, balance forecasting and expense splitting. No bank connection, no ads, no card required.

Frequently asked questions

For most people, Cuéntamo. It also has quick manual entry (a floating button with shortcuts to your categories), but on top of that it's a much more complete platform for everyday finances: real balance forecasting years out, expense splitting and debts, net worth and investments, and statement imports, and it runs on the web, desktop, Android and iPhone, not just your phone. Monefy has its strengths (logging in two taps and instantly seeing the donut of where your money goes, with that direct simplicity on your phone), but that's a narrower advantage next to what Cuéntamo covers. Our goal is to be the best personal-finance app for households and freelancers, and where we're not there yet, we work on it every day. Both respect your privacy and both have a free plan, so you can try them at no cost.
The donut is Monefy's signature circular chart: each slice is a category, and you tap a slice to log an expense in two taps. It's their trademark feature. Cuéntamo doesn't copy that gesture, but it also logs quickly by hand (a floating button with shortcuts to your categories) and shows your spending by category with ring charts (in the monthly summary and in Analysis); its focus is broader.
Neither connects to your bank: both put privacy first and work with manual entry. Monefy stores your data on your device and syncs between phones through your own Google Drive or Dropbox. Cuéntamo, besides manual entry, lets you import your bank statements by file (CSV, Excel, ODS), broker statements too, or with the Habeas browser extension (local-first), where you log in to your bank yourself and it reads the movements in your own browser —it doesn't (yet) connect to every bank—. No bank credentials involved, by design.
Both have a free version. Cuéntamo Más costs €4.99/month (€49.90/year), with an Early Bird price of €3.99/month for early subscribers. Monefy offers the app for free plus a paid Pro version that unlocks unlimited accounts, recurring transactions and advanced filters (pricing depends on the app store and isn't published on their website).
Monefy is a set of native iOS and Android apps, built for the phone and fast for logging. Cuéntamo is a web app (PWA) that installs on Android and iOS and works just the same on a computer, and it also logs quickly with its floating entry button. Monefy lives on the phone only; Cuéntamo also gives you the full room of the desktop to sit down with your accounts.
