General
Is the free plan really free?
Yes. No credit card required and no expiration date. The free plan has its limits (3-month forecast, no freelancer module, no shared account books, no connected accounts, no multi-currency support) but it more than covers the basics for anyone.
Why should I pay when there are free alternatives?
Free alternatives make money from your financial data -- by selling you products or sharing your information with third parties. Cuéntamo's business model is the subscription itself. That completely changes the incentives: your data exists to power the service, not to be monetized.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
You can export everything at any time and permanently delete your data with a single click. There is no data retention and nothing is kept after you cancel.
How long does the Early Birds offer last?
Until the 100 spots are gone. No artificial deadline. When user number 101 signs up, the offer disappears and the price becomes 4.99 EUR/month.
Sharing and collaboration
Can I share my account book with my partner?
Yes. On the free plan you can invite one person and share the book with them for a 30-day trial, no credit card needed. If you want to keep sharing after that, the Cuéntamo Más plan includes up to 5 members per book, all synced in real time. You can also have multiple books (for example, one personal and one for your freelance business).
What are connected accounts?
They let you share an account between two different books. Every transaction is automatically reflected in the other book. Great for couples with separate books, debts between friends, or managing your kids' allowance.
Data import
How do I get my data in if it doesn't connect to my bank?
Several ways: you can import bank statements (CSV, Excel, ODS) using a wizard that auto-detects the columns, or use the public API to automate imports with your own script. Cuéntamo categorizes the transactions it recognizes and leaves the rest for you to review -- and every time you classify them, it learns for next time.
Does it connect to my bank automatically?
Cuéntamo doesn't connect directly to your bank, but its public API lets you automate imports with your own script. Transactions that Cuéntamo recognizes are applied automatically; the ones it doesn't recognize wait for your review.
Can I have accounts in multiple currencies?
Yes, with Cuéntamo Más. You can create accounts in any currency (dollars, pounds, won, pesos...) and Cuéntamo automatically converts balances to your main currency so you can see the consolidated total on the dashboard and forecast. Exchange rates are updated every hour from the European Central Bank.
Freelancer module
Does the freelancer module replace an accountant?
It's not meant to replace one -- it complements your accountant's work. Cuéntamo automatically generates the four mandatory tax ledgers required by the Agencia Tributaria (Spanish Tax Agency) for freelancers: income, expenses, capital assets, and provisions. It calculates quarterly VAT (IVA) and income tax (IRPF) with their tax bases, and exports everything to Excel ready to hand to your accountant or keep on file in case of an audit. You arrive at tax season with clear numbers instead of a bag of invoices.
Which tax ledgers does Cuéntamo generate?
The four ledgers required by the Agencia Tributaria (Spanish Tax Agency) for freelancers under the direct estimation method: income ledger (issued invoices), expense ledger (received invoices), capital assets ledger (depreciable assets), and provisions ledger. Each entry includes the third party, tax ID (NIF), invoice number, taxable base, VAT (IVA), and income tax withholding (IRPF). They export to Excel with sequential numbering and a format ready to submit.
How does depreciation work?
When you mark an expense as depreciable (for example, a laptop), Cuéntamo suggests the depreciation rate based on the official tables published by the Agencia Tributaria (Spanish Tax Agency). It calculates the deductible amount each year and records it in the capital assets ledger. No manual calculations needed.
Privacy and security
Does Cuéntamo sell my data?
No. Cuéntamo has no advertisers and no deals with financial institutions. What you pay for is the subscription, not your data. No profiles are created, no audiences are segmented, and no information is shared with third parties.
What analytics do you use?
We use Umami, a self-hosted analytics tool running on our own servers. No cookies, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, and no third-party tools reporting your activity.
