Looking for a Neto alternative?

If you are here, either Neto is not quite fitting or you are checking before you decide. This page will not try to talk you round: it says where Neto is better, where Cuéntamo is, and who each one suits. If your answer at the end is «I'll stay where I am», that's a useful answer too. Often the honest deciding factor is simple — Neto is Apple-only, so if you use Android or want the web, the choice is made for you.

How they're alike

Both start from the same idea: keeping track of your money without spreadsheets and without handing over your bank credentials. You create your accounts by hand, log transactions by category, set budgets and savings goals, and follow your net worth and investments — including crypto. Both are private: neither connects to your bank, and your data stays yours. Neto keeps it on your device with optional iCloud sync; Cuéntamo keeps it in your account. If what you want is to track your money by hand, privately, and see your net worth, either will do the job well.

How they differ

Neto is, deliberately, an Apple-native app: it runs across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision, with real-time investment prices. Cuéntamo is a cross-platform platform that, beyond tracking, covers things Neto doesn't:

And if you freelance in Spain, there's also a full Spanish tax module (VAT, income tax) — but that's an extra; this comparison is about everyday use.

When Neto may fit you better

It's a matter of preference. If you live inside the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision) and prefer a native app there, with your data on the device and no need for forecasting, file imports or expense splitting, Neto fits. It comes from an independent developer, the real-time investment prices are a useful touch, and iCloud sync keeps your devices in step without any account to manage.

Honest summary. Want a native Apple app to track your money by hand across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision, with real-time investments? Neto. Want to also know your future balance, import your statements instead of typing them in, split expenses and debts, share a book — or simply use Android or the web? Cuéntamo. It's a native Apple app versus a cross-platform platform: pick whichever matches your devices and your needs. And you don't have to decide blind — both are free to start.

Frequently asked questions

For most people, Cuéntamo. It does net worth and investments too, but its flagship feature is real balance forecasting years out (not just a snapshot of today), and it adds statement imports, expense splitting and debts, shared books and a freelancer tax module. It also runs on the web, desktop, Android and iPhone, not just Apple devices. Neto has its strengths (an Apple-native app across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision, system integration and real-time investment prices), but those are narrower advantages next to what Cuéntamo covers, and on live investment prices we're still improving. Our goal is to be the best personal-finance app for households and freelancers, and where we're not there yet, we work on it every day. Both respect your privacy and both have a free plan, so you can try them at no cost.
No. Neto is Apple-only: it runs natively on iPhone, iPad, Mac (Apple Silicon) and Apple Vision, but there is no Android app and no web version. If you use Android, Windows or want to work from a browser, Neto won't fit. Cuéntamo is a web app (PWA) that installs on Android and iOS and works the same on a computer, so it's the cross-platform option here.
Neither connects to your bank: both are privacy-first. Neto is 100% manual entry and stores your data on your device, with optional iCloud sync between your Apple devices. Cuéntamo also works with manual entry, but on top of that it lets you import your bank and broker statements by file (CSV, Excel, ODS), or with the Habeas browser extension (local-first), where you log in to your bank yourself and it reads the movements in your own browser —it doesn't (yet) connect to every bank—. No bank credentials involved, by design. That's the practical difference: with Neto you type everything in; with Cuéntamo you can also import.
Both have a free version. Cuéntamo Más costs €4.99/month (€49.90/year), with an Early Bird price of €3.99/month for early subscribers. Neto Pro costs €9.99/month or €49.99/year. On a monthly basis Cuéntamo is cheaper; on a yearly basis they're roughly the same.
Cuéntamo does: from your recurring income and expenses it projects your balance up to 5 years ahead and warns you before you run into the red, and it answers questions like 'can I afford this?'. Neto focuses on the present — expenses, income, budgets, net worth and investments — but it doesn't forecast your future balance. If knowing how much money you'll have months from now matters to you, that's Cuéntamo's flagship feature.
